NHBRC & building standards

Registered to build. Accountable for the work.

A registered builder, an enrolled home and approved plans are three separate things. Here is what each one means for your project.

Builder registration

Home builders must be registered with the NHBRC to build homes. Registration is renewed every year, and you can ask to see the current certificate and confirm it with the NHBRC.

Home enrolment

Each new home is enrolled with the NHBRC by the builder before construction starts. Enrolment is what opens access to NHBRC inspections and warranty cover.

Inspections and warranty

The NHBRC inspects enrolled homes at key stages. After occupation the builder must remedy roof leaks reported within 1 year and major structural defects reported within 5 years, in writing.

Plans and regulations

We build to approved drawings, the National Building Regulations and, where it applies, SANS 10400. Registration alone does not certify the work. The plans, inspections and records do that.

NHBRC & BUILDING STANDARDS

One project. The right people.

Good construction takes more than a builder. Tell us where you are and we will point you to the right starting place.

Have plans

Send your drawings and we price the construction scope.

Need an architect

No plans yet? Tell us about the project and we will advise which professional you need and arrange the introduction where we can.

Industry professional

Architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and specialist trades who want to work with us.

New development. Renovation. Civil work. Seamless finish. Waterproofing. Or something that doesn't quite fit into a box. Tell us what you're planning and we'll take it from there.
